Unveiling The Arc CBO: A Journey of Empowerment and Inclusion

Imagine a world where potential knows no bounds, where every barrier melts away before the unwavering spirit of community. This is the vision that drives The Arc CBO, a transformative initiative fueled by the passion of local resident Ronald Ekesa Okedi. Founded in 2014, The Arc stands as a beacon of hope for Persons With Disabilities (PWD) in Busia County and beyond.

A Spark Ignites Change

The story of The Arc begins with a spark, a realization that ignited within Okedi as he witnessed the transformative power of a government program supporting PWD and vulnerable individuals. Working with the KCB Mtaani program, Okedi witnessed firsthand the untapped potential and unmet needs of the PWD community. It was a wake-up call, a call to action.

Bridging the Information Gap

Okedi identified a critical information gap, particularly regarding the government's policy of allocating 30% of procurement opportunities to PWDs. Armed with this knowledge, he embarked on a mission to empower the PWD community, equipping them with the tools to claim their rightful place in society. His dedication led him to the Australian Government, where he deepened his understanding of the disability sector and honed his skills in advocacy and support.

Building a Beacon of Hope

Returning to Busia with a heart ablaze with passion and a mind enriched with knowledge, Okedi founded The Arc CBO. Despite facing initial challenges and limited support, he persevered, driven by the unwavering belief that every person deserves a chance to thrive. The Arc CBO became a sanctuary, a safe haven where individuals with disabilities could access vital support, educational opportunities, and advocacy on their behalf.

From Potential to Opportunity

From comprehensive educational programs to direct support services, The Arc CBO's initiatives bridge the gap between potential and opportunity. Each step forward is a testament to the power of community, a collective effort fueled by compassion and a shared vision of inclusivity.

A Story of Triumph

The Arc CBO is more than just an organization; it's a movement, a symbol of unwavering dedication and collective strength. It's the story of one man's unwavering passion, amplified by the voices of a community rising in unison. As The Arc CBO continues to grow and flourish, its impact echoes far and wide, paving the way for a future where disability is not a barrier, but a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
